Item Type

An Item Type acts as a template or category for items, determining their structure and properties. This configuration involves setting a name and code for the type, assigning an owner, and linking it to a pre-configured Item Fields Group. This link determines the specific set of custom data fields that all items of this type will have.

How to Create and Edit a Item Field

From the Configuration > Item Type List in the Back Office (BO), a list of all Item Types can be accessed.

To create a new one, select the Item Type . Create option located in the RELATED TASKS section on the right side of the screen.

The following screen will be displayed:

1. Item Type Details: This section contains the fields required to define the new item type.

  • Name: A mandatory field for the descriptive name of the item type.

  • Code: A mandatory field for the unique identifier code for the item type.

  • Description: A mandatory field for a short description of the item type.

  • Active: A checkbox to set the item type as active. Inactive types may not be available for use.

  • Owner: A mandatory dropdown menu to select the owner entity type for items of this type (e.g., Person).

  • Item Fields Group: A mandatory dropdown menu to select the Item Fields Group to associate with this type. This determines the custom fields for the item.

The following steps should be followed to edit a Item Field

  • Configuration - Item Type List

  • Select a row and press Item Field . View

  • Click on Item Type Edit.

Note: To deactivate an Item Type, click on item type . desactivate.
