Applicability

What is a Applicability

Applicability refers to the set of rules that defines the target audience, or "segment," for a communication or activity. Its primary function is to ensure that features and messages are restricted to the intended participants. While central to Communications, Applicability is a core feature used throughout the Thalamus platform.

Applicability Methods

Thalamus provides the following methods for defining an applicability segment:

Evaluation Timing for Logic-Based Rules Important: Applicability methods that are logic-based (By Query and By Rule) are evaluated dynamically. The system processes the rules at the exact moment a communication is sent, ensuring the audience is always based on the most current data available at that time.

When the 'Applicability conditions config' link is clicked, the following screen is displayed:

1. General Settings

  • Applicability type: A dropdown menu to select the method for determining applicability (e.g., ByRule).

  • Party type: A dropdown menu to select the type of entity the rules will apply to (e.g., Person).

2. Rule Scope

  • Only the selected Party / Include Party's References / Only the Party's references: A single-choice option to define the scope of the rule's application in relation to the primary party and its associated references.

  • Condition Logic Dropdown: A dropdown menu to set the logic for how multiple condition rules are evaluated

3. Audience Calculation

  • Information: An informational display area that shows the number of consumers who match the configured conditions after a calculation is performed.

  • Save & Calculate: A button that saves the current configuration and calculates the total number of consumers who meet the defined conditions.

4. Individual Testing

  • Party to test: A search field to find a specific individual or party to test against the configured applicability rules.

  • Test Result: A read-only field that displays the outcome of the test, indicating whether the searched party meets the conditions.

5. Condition Rules Configuration

  • Description: This section is where the specific condition rules are listed and managed. An informational message, "There are no applicability conditions rules for this activity. Add at least one in order to activate it," is displayed when no rules have been added.

  • (Add Rule Button): A button used to add a new conditional rule to the configuration.
